Bank statement to CSV converter

Drop a PDF bank statement and download a CSV with one row per transaction, either Debit and Credit columns or a single signed Amount. Nothing leaves your browser.

Try a sample statement

Exports to Excel · CSV · QBO · OFX · QFX · Xero · Tally

How it works

Three steps. No upload.

The whole conversion runs in your browser tab, so your statement never reaches a server.

  1. 01

    Drop the PDF

Bank or credit card statement, up to 100 files at a time.

  2. 02

    Fix anything that’s flagged

Rows with a problem are highlighted. Edit, add or exclude rows before you export.

  3. 03

    Pick a layout and download

Choose three or four columns and a date style, then download. Several files come as a zip.

The balance check

A CSV has no checksum, so we check first

A CSV can’t tell you it is missing a line. Whatever program opens it will happily total what’s there. So the check happens before the file is written: every row is added up and compared with the opening and closing balances printed on the statement.

If they don’t match to the cent, the review screen shows the difference, for example “Off by 12.40”, and the page where a row was probably missed. You can add the row there, then export a file that matches the statement.

The file

Plain columns, nothing clever

Two layouts, both from a made-up statement. The header row is always there, amounts use a dot as the decimal point with no thousands separators, and dates follow the style you pick.

Date styles
MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY or YYYY-MM-DD. The default follows the statement.
Money out and in
Four columns: Debit and Credit, both positive. Three columns: one Amount, money out negative.
Balance
Added as a last column when the statement prints a running balance.
Safe for spreadsheets
A description that starts with =, +, - or @ gets a leading apostrophe so a spreadsheet won’t run it as a formula.
Accents
The file is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Excel shows accents and symbols correctly.

Import

FAQ

Bank statement to CSV, answered

Which CSV layout should I choose?
Four columns (Debit and Credit) matches how most bank statements are printed and suits bookkeeping tools that ask for money in and money out. Three columns (one signed Amount) suits tools that ask for a single amount. If you’re not sure what yours wants, try four columns first.
Will the dates import correctly?
Pick the date style your software expects before you download. A statement dated 03/04/2026 is 3 April in the UK and 4 March in the US, so the preview shows the style next to your dates. YYYY-MM-DD is unambiguous and read by almost everything.
Why is my description empty or cut?
Descriptions are copied as printed. If a bank prints a long description over two lines, the lines are joined. If a row looks wrong on the review screen, edit it there before you download.
Can I download my bank’s CSV instead?
Often, for recent months. Banks usually offer a CSV of recent activity, but older months and closed accounts are PDF only. That is where this converter helps. Each bank page says what that bank offers.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. A text PDF is read in your browser and the CSV is built there too, so there is no copy on our servers. It keeps working offline after your first visit.
How do I get dates and amounts to stay as numbers in Excel?
Open the CSV with File, Open rather than pasting it. Amounts are written plain (1234.56) so Excel reads them as numbers. If your Excel uses a comma as the decimal separator, import with the data wizard and set the decimal to a dot, or download the Excel version, which stores real numbers.
