How it works

Three steps. No upload.

The whole conversion runs in your browser tab, so your statement never reaches a server.

  1. 01

    Drop the PDF

One statement or up to 100 at once. A password-protected PDF asks for its password in your browser.

  2. 02

    Check the review screen

Every row is in a grid you can edit, add to or exclude. The status reads Balanced, or Off by an amount.

  3. 03

    Download the workbook

Each statement becomes its own .xlsx. Several statements download together as a zip with “Download all”.

The balance check

The workbook says whether it adds up

Before the .xlsx is built, we add up every row and compare the result with the opening and closing balances printed on the statement. A Summary sheet inside the workbook keeps that result: opening balance, credits, debits, the statement’s closing balance, our calculated closing, the difference, and “Balanced” or “Does not balance”.

That matters in Excel because a missing row doesn’t look missing. The totals still look fine until someone reconciles against the bank. When a statement prints a running balance, the review screen also points at the row where the running balance first stops adding up.

Two sheets: Transactions and Summary

This is the layout of the workbook, using a made-up statement. Dates are stored as dates and amounts as numbers, so sums, filters and pivot tables work straight away.

FAQ

Bank statement to Excel, answered

Why not just open the PDF in Excel?
Excel can paste text from a PDF, but it usually lands in one column, merges two-line descriptions and loses minus signs, and nothing tells you if a row went missing. Here, columns are rebuilt from where the text sits on the page, multi-line descriptions are joined, and the result is checked against the balances.
Are the amounts real numbers or text?
Real numbers, with dates stored as dates. You can sum, sort and filter without converting anything first. Numbers written 1.234,56 or 1,23,456.00 on the statement are read in their own style and saved as ordinary numbers.
Is my statement uploaded anywhere?
No. A text PDF is read by code running in your browser tab, and the workbook is built there too. It keeps working offline after your first visit. How we handle your data.
What if it says “Off by”?
It means the rows we found don’t add up to the closing balance printed on the statement. The review screen shows the difference and the likely page or row. Fix it there by adding the missing row or editing an amount, then download. The Summary sheet records the result either way.
Can I put several months into one sheet?
Each statement is its own workbook, and “Download all” puts them in one zip. If you want one long list, copy the Transactions sheets into a single workbook. A PDF that holds several accounts is split into one statement per account.
How many pages can I convert for free?
Five pages a day, with no account and every format. Pricing has the paid plans for more.
Does it read scanned or photographed statements?
Not yet. A scan has no text to read, so it needs OCR on a server. That is planned for paid plans, and it will ask before sending a file. Statements you download from online banking are text PDFs and work today.
