How it works

Three steps. No upload.

The whole conversion runs in your browser tab, so your statement never reaches a server.

  1. 01

    Drop the card PDF

One card statement or a stack of them. A PDF that holds several accounts is split into one statement per account.

  2. 02

    Check charges and payments

Charges and payments are sorted into the right columns. Fix, add or exclude rows on the review screen.

  3. 03

    Download the workbook

A Transactions sheet and a Summary sheet with the previous balance, payments, charges and new balance.

The balance check

Previous balance, plus charges, minus payments

A card statement balances the other way round from a bank account. The new balance is the previous balance, plus what you charged, minus what you paid or got back. We add up every row and compare the result with the new balance printed on the statement.

Interest, fees and returns are rows like any other, so one that goes missing shows up as a difference. Most card statements don’t print a running balance per row, so the review screen points at the likely page instead of one row.

The file

Charges and payments, not debit and credit

This is a made-up card statement. The column names follow how a card works: Charges and Payments, both positive. Amount is signed from your side, so a charge is negative.

Charges
Purchases, fees and interest, as positive numbers.
Payments
Payments, refunds and credits, as positive numbers.
Amount
Signed. A charge is negative, a payment is positive, so a column total is your net movement.
Balance column
Left out unless the statement prints a running balance, which most card statements don’t.
Not exported
Items that aren’t transactions, such as the minimum payment due and the credit limit.

Import

FAQ

Credit card statement to Excel, answered

Why are my charges negative in the Amount column?
Amount is signed from your side: money you owe is negative, money you pay back is positive. The Charges and Payments columns next to it are positive, so use whichever fits your sheet.
Are interest and fees included?
Yes, as rows with their own description. They count in the balance check, so a missing fee shows up as a difference.
Why doesn’t the card sheet have a Balance column?
Most credit card statements print only a previous balance and a new balance, not a running balance after every row. When a statement does print one, the column is included.
Can I convert several cards or months at once?
Yes, up to 100 statements, with “Download all” as a zip. A PDF that holds more than one account is split into one statement per account.
Can I get this into QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Download a QBO file from the same review. It is written as a credit card statement, so upload it into a credit card account. A guide shows the steps.
Is my card statement uploaded?
No. A text PDF is read in your browser and the workbook is built there. It keeps working offline after your first visit.
