CSV to QBO converter

Turn a bank or credit card CSV into a QBO file that QuickBooks Online and Desktop import as a bank statement. Free, no sign-up, and the file never leaves your browser.

The converter didn’t start. Reload the page to try again. If it still doesn’t, your browser may be too old for it: it needs Chrome or Edge 110, Safari 16.4, Firefox 115 or newer.

Read in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

CSV in, QBO out. Nothing uploaded.

The whole conversion runs in your browser tab, so your transactions never reach a server.

  1. 01

    Drop your CSV

The CSV your bank or card website exports. Excel files work too.

  2. 02

    Check the columns

Date, description and amount columns are found for you. The preview shows the first rows exactly as they will import.

  3. 03

    Download the QBO

Built in your browser in the layout QuickBooks expects, ready to import.

What it reads

Your bank’s export, as it is

FAQ

CSV to QBO, answered

Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read by code running in your browser tab and the QBO, OFX or QFX file is built there too. Nothing is sent to our servers, so there is no copy to delete afterwards.
What columns does the file need?
A date, a description, and either one amount column or separate money out and money in columns. A balance column is optional: when there is one, every row is checked against it. A check number column is carried into the file too, so QuickBooks can match checks.
Why are my amounts the wrong way round?
Most credit card exports list purchases as positive numbers. Choose “Credit card” under Account, and tick “Charges are positive in this file” if the preview still shows purchases as money in. When the file has a balance column, the tool works this out from the balance for you.
Will importing the same file twice create duplicates?
Each transaction gets an ID (FITID) built from its date, amount and description, so the same file always produces the same IDs. QuickBooks, Quicken and most other programs use these IDs to skip transactions they already have.
Which bank name will QuickBooks show?
QuickBooks picks the name from the bank ID (INTU.BID) inside the file. The default, 3000, is the ID most conversion tools use. If QuickBooks refuses the file or you want a specific bank’s name, type your bank’s ID in the Bank ID box before downloading.
QuickBooks says it can’t read the file. What now?
Download it again rather than opening it in Excel or a text editor first, since saving it from another program can change it. Also check that you import a credit card file into a credit card account and a bank file into a bank account.
Is it really free?
Yes. Converting CSV and Excel files is free with no limit and no account. If you only have PDF statements, the PDF converter reads those, with a free allowance every day.
